BLACK SESAME RICE CRISPY TREATS
Ingredients:
• 4 tbsp unsalted butter
• 1 bag (10 oz) marshmallows
• 1/3 cup ground black sesame seeds mixed with 2
tsp neutral oil to make paste (I used avocado oil)
• 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
• Pinch of salt
• 4–5 cups puffed rice or crisp rice cereal
Optional toppings: black sesame seeds, flaky salt
Step by step:
1. Melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat until just melted (you can brown it for extra depth, but not required).
2. Add marshmallows and stir constantly until melted and smooth.
3. Stir in black sesame paste, vanilla (if using), and salt. Mix until fully incorporated—the mixture will turn a gorgeous grayish-black.
4. Fold in rice cereal quickly and evenly.
5. Press into a pan (lined or buttered 8x8 or 9x9). Use parchment or a spatula to press gently—don’t overpack or they’ll get dense.
6. Let cool for 30–60 minutes before slicing into squares.
Finish with a sprinkle of sesame seeds or flaky salt if you’re feeling fancy
